9:00–11:00am Stage Lighting 101
Location: Black Box Theater
Let there be light! This hands-on workshop covers all the basics of lighting a stage for performance. Our professional lighting staff will go over the most common lighting fixtures at the designer’s disposal, how to get enough power to where you need it, the foundations of working through a lighting plot and basic backstage safety.
10:00-1:00pm Audio Systems for Performance
Location: Classroom SE214
This class will cover all the basics getting a sound system up and running for your show. Topics will include; selecting the appropriate microphone, using wireless systems, positioning speakers and recording the performance.
11:00-1:00pm Color Theory for Lighting Design
Location: Black Box Theater
It’s 3am…do you know what color your moonlight should be? Creating mood, time of day and location on stage all takes color. This workshop will cover the wide array of colors available to designers as well as how lighting color interacts with scenery, costumes, props, and actors.
11:00-1:00pm Lighting for Film & Video
Location: Science Center Auditorium

1:45-3:00pm Costuming & Wardrobe
Location: Black Box Theater
In this workshop, we will discuss the process and choices involved in designing and running a production, including; time period, concepts, history, organization, quick changes, repairs, & laundry. Your actors would be naked without it!
1:45-2:30pm Moving Lights & What They Can Do
Location: Science Center Auditorium
This hands-on workshop will familiarize attendees with the technology of moving, or, intelligent lighting. These powerful lighting tools are changing the industry and the way shows are designed, get up to date with this engaging class.
2:00-3:00pm Backstage Safety
Location: Classroom SE214
This how-to class covers the most relevant theater safety issues to make sure that the people and environment around you remains safe and secure. Teachers and facility managers who are responsible for supervising others are especially encouraged to attend this crucial workshop.
2:30-6:00pm ETC Programming – ION and the Revolution
Location: Science Center Auditorium
An ETC factory expert takes attendees through the motions of programming one of the world’s best, most popular and most powerful entertainment control systems. This class is a must for those seeking a better grasp of both programming with a state-of-the-art system and how that system works with moving lights.
3:00-4:30pm Simple Solutions for Lighting, Audio & Control
Location: Black Box Theater
When an unconventional area needs to be transformed into a show-ready space, it’s time to get creative. This workshop gets creative solutions to the forefront and introduces some new and innovative technical gear to turn any space into a workable performance area.
4:35-6:00pm Using Projections, Gobos & Motion Effects
Location: Black Box Theater
Often the secret ingredient to the best looking and most engaging lighting designs, this workshop will cover nuts and bolts of how these effects work and how best to use projections to enhance a performance.
Makeup Classes
ALL classes are free! However, those who wish to attend the makeup classes MUST have their own makeup kit! Kits will be available the day of the seminar for $16.00.
11:00-1:00pm Stage Makeup 101
Location: Backstage at SE213 (Backstage @ Science Center Auditorium)
This workshop covers the foundation of the art of theatrical makeup. Actors, directors, designers and all creative types are encouraged to take this fun and informative how-to class.
1:45-3:45pm Bloody Wreck! - Bruises, Scratches, Wounds, Scars, Black Eyes & more
Location: Backstage at SE213 (Backstage @ Science Center Auditorium)
Always a popular class, this workshop will cover the most frequently needed wound effects on stage. Our professional makeup artist helps attendees create some gruesome looks that appear so real!
